Reviews of My Favourite 2014 Albums (First Blog)

This is my very first blog and I really can't tell how excited I'm for start doing this. The first thing that I want people to know is that everything you read here is just a personal opinion that I wanted to share with the lovely people around the world, so this means that what I write is not the exact true unless I put an especific source, just my opinion. Now, please just enjoy the reading :)
As the tittle says, this time I will be giving a review about my favourite album of this year, and let me tell you that I have been a massive year for the industry so to speak. However, before I start you should probably know that I listen to pop, rock, EDM, R&B and other modern styles.

TRXYE by Troye Sivan:

We probably know this Australian guy throughout his life as youtuber, still the moment I listen the first single "Happy Little Pill", I really liked it. Part of the EP has a really interesting pop sound while the other has a softer one. Definitely an artist to watch. Favourite tracks: Happy Little Pill, Touch.

CHAPTER ONE by Ella Henderson:

The ex-contestant of the British X Factor presented us a very well balanced album just for say. Most of the tracks are ballades but with a distinct background, which in my opinion is leading it to be kind of gospel or even R&B and the piano essence is never lost. After hitting everything with "Ghost" I wanted to listen more and more, especially because of the lyrics and even though others opinion, I think she have chosen the right path. By far, an awesome album with very deep lyrics and her beautiful voice impossible not to love. Favourite tracks: Ghost, Glow, Missed.

X by Ed Sheeran:

With Multiply Ed brought us something incredible for sure, especially when such a romantic affliction is expressed in songs like "Thinking Out Loud" or "Photograph". You might be expecting an album full of ballades but you will be having more with the "rap style" that is also incorporated this time as in "Don't". Really like this album because of its special sound. Favourite tracks: Sing, I See Fire, One, Photograph.

THE NEW CLASSIC by Iggy Azalea:

It is really hard to explain how after the first I listened to one of the songs of this beautiful Australian girl, I said "I want to listen more". It is an album with a rap and hip hop style by an amazing singer with a really witty writing style and flashy beats . Favourite tracks: Fancy feat. Charli XCX, Work, Impossible is Nothing, Black Widow.

V by Maroon 5:

This new 11 songs are very well polished that definitely blew my mind. The L.A band keeps with their rock influence, still a little bit of pop can be spotted. Despite some critics opinions I enjoy listening this album since Levine's voice is a powerful instrument and gives that special touch to each song as usual. Favourite tracks: Maps, It Was Always You, Animals and Sugar.

1000 FORMS OF FEAR by Sia:

Always writing great lyrics for lots of artists but this time breaking everything with a fifth studio album, the musically gifted Australian singer Sia Furler released one of the best albums of this year. In fact, Chandelier claimed straight to the top of charts all over the world. Her amazing voice and echoing style combined with the R&B style, which was everything she needed to conquer my ears. Definitely one of my favourites of this year. Favourite tracks: Big Girls Don't Cry, Elastic Heart, Chandelier, Eye of the Needle.

NSOUND WITHOUT SILENCE by The Script:

This Irish band conformed by Danny, Mark and Glen smashed it this year. I really like this album because its combination of R&B vocals, sentimental choruses and the guitar line to keep it a little bit rocky, perhaps. The Script is one of my favourite bands ever and a very good example that commercial success doesn't always beget musical ingenuity, Go Ireland!! Favourite tracks: Superheroes, Man on a Wire, No Good In Goodbye, Never Seen Anything "Quite Like You".

1989 by Taylor Swift:

With this fifth album Taylor have certainly done a drastic change from her country-pop style, in fact in my opinion as the name says she tried to turn into some eighties pop in this one, far different from RED. However, do is not such a big deal because it is great, is different sound but still with a great essence and her classic and very well-appreciated love and life experiences including her fantastic talent for writing lyrics, which are the things I love the most about her. Favourite tracks: Style, Out of the Woods, Shake It Off, New Romantics.

FOUR by One Direction:

It is really hard to tell how much I waited for this one to come out and it is a fact that Niall, Liam, Louis, Zayn and Harry don't stop surprising me at all. Most of people will agree that the band mainly shows a big growth through their music but with some retro vibes and flavours this time. Surprising and a good one, really like it, but I'm still expecting a little more from this talented British-Irish boy band. Favourite tracks: Fireproof, 18, Where Do Broken Hearts Go, Night Changes, Steal My Girl, Ready to Run.

MEverything by Ariana Grande:

It is undeniable that this girl smashed it this year and with her amazing voice, she conquered every single chart this year. In fact, her single Problem feat. Iggy Azalea was on the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for some months. In my opinion, she still have so much potential to show and a bright future ahead. Favourite tracks: Love Me Harder, Break Free feat. Zedd, Problem feat. Iggy Azalea, One Last Time. Just A Little Bit of Your Heart.

GHOST STORIES by Coldplay:

During the years Coldplay, have become one of the best bands of this century, but with this sixth album is something the band has never done before. Yes, they have kept the concept of very interesting lyrics but also they have tried a new style and rhythm, even though the guitar and piano are not missing you might find some good surprises this time. Favourite tracks: True Love, A Sky Full of Stars, Oceans.

MOTIONS by Calvin Harris:

Justifiably considered one of the masters of EDM the Scottish DJ-producer it is on the tops of the charts with most of the hits of this recently released album, keeping the collaborations in most of them. However, for me there is still quite familiar to the last album yet not boring and the most entertaining tracks are not the ones on the radios but he still keeps the party moving. Favourite tracks: Outside feat. Ellie Goulding, Blame feat. John Newman, Summer, Under Control feat. Alesso and Hurts.

Well that was it, there were another albums I would have liked to include in tis list like In The Lonely Hour by Sam Smith, Sweet Talker by Jessie J, 5 Seconds of Summer by 5 Seconds of Summer, GIRL by Pharrell Williams and Never Been Better by Olly Murs but I didn't to not to make it too long, but they are as good as the other ones. I hope every reader likes and if there is any suggestion or comment just put it below. My Twitter: @Rufo96. Thanks for Reading!! :)
